Car paint: identify the colour and repair system
When ordering car paint, start with the colour code and the panel you need to repair. SIC Refinish handles enquiries for bodyshop materials and consumables from Barcelona. Tell us the required finish and the system you use so we can review your request.

A colour name is not enough
White, grey or black describe a colour family, but do not identify a refinishing formula. Provide the vehicle make, model, year and paint code. If you cannot find the code, send a photograph of the manufacturer's plate so the available information can be checked.
The code is a starting point: variants and differences from an aged or previously repaired surface may exist. A phone photograph helps explain the job but cannot guarantee a colour match. The bodyshop should check the colour through its comparison process and a spray-out sample before painting.
Separate preparation, colour and finish
Primer or primer-surfacer prepares the substrate within the chosen system; it does not replace the colour coat. In a basecoat/clearcoat system, the colour basecoat and clearcoat perform different jobs. When ordering, identify which stage needs replenishing.
A plastic repair, a bare metal panel and an already painted surface have different starting conditions. State the substrate and the products underneath. Check compatibility, preparation and timings in the technical sheets for the specific system, rather than combining instructions for different products.

What affects quantities and the quotation
List the panels to be painted, their size and whether blending is part of the job. Coverage depends on the product and process; a car's model name alone is not enough to calculate the litres required.
Ask for a quotation identifying the paint, required components and pack sizes. Also check mixing cups, masking materials and abrasives to avoid an incomplete order. Our team will confirm product references, availability, taxes and delivery for your enquiry.
How to prepare a car paint enquiry
- Describe the scope: a small touch-up, a complete panel or several panels. State whether metal or plastic is exposed, or whether the work is over an existing finish.
- Attach the colour code and a readable photograph of its label. Add an overall photograph of the area to explain the job; the shade must be checked against the vehicle.
- Separate what you already have from what you need: primer, colour basecoat, clear coat and components. Provide complete product references so compatibility can be checked.
- Before accepting the quotation, check that it identifies each product and pack size. Ask for clarification if it only says “paint”, without a system, reference or quantity.
