An industrial paper roll provides paper for cleaning or drying tasks at a workstation. The word industrial does not identify a single performance level: products come with different dimensions, compositions and uses.
How to interpret a roll's description
Metres indicate length. Ply count describes the paper's construction. Width determines how wide each length is, and the core is the central tube. The pack quantity tells you how many rolls you are buying. Read these details together to avoid comparing one roll with a complete pack.
Which uses should be confirmed?
Check the reference's specifications before choosing it for a task. Do not assume every roll resists solvents, leaves no fibres or suits every surface. If your process needs specific performance, request the relevant documentation.
A format from the SIC Refinish catalogue
The pack of two 400 m paper rolls specifies two plies, a 23 cm width and 76 mm core. That is 800 metres per pack. To check an enclosed dispenser's fit, you also need the outer diameter.
Read a label without counting the paper twice
For a description such as “2 rolls, 400 m, 2 ply”, first confirm that 400 m applies to each roll. If so, you receive 800 m of two-ply paper. The layers do not turn those 800 m into 1,600 usable metres: they are used together as the paper unwinds.
| Expression | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 2 × 400 m | Two rolls of 400 m each: 800 m in total. |
| 23 cm wide | The paper width, not the roll diameter. |
| 76 mm core | The central tube measurement, not the outer circle. |
| 500 sheets of 30 cm | Perforation example: 500 × 0.30 m = 150 m per roll. |
The sheet example is fictional and does not describe the 400 m roll. A sheet count alone needs sheet length to calculate metres; calculating area also requires width. Photograph the complete label and distinguish confirmed figures before comparing offers.
