Workshop paper: organising use and replenishment

How to set up a point of use, record consumption and plan paper replenishment without assuming a roll's performance.

Recording stock helps organise consumable replenishment.

Organising cleaning paper starts with knowing where it is used and who replenishes it. A product may suit several tasks or require more specific use according to its documentation. Planning replenishment helps identify needs without claiming unmeasured savings or performance.

Set up each point of use

Note the workstation, task and available holder. Check the dimensions it accepts and avoid choosing a roll by apparent size alone. When changing references, check width, core and outer diameter again.

Record consumption before planning purchases

Over a representative period, record when each roll is opened and finished. Account for changes in activity: a busy week is not comparable to one with less use. Use the data to estimate packs needed and review your forecast regularly.

Agree when to replenish

Assign responsibility and a reorder alert level based on observed consumption and the supplier's confirmed delivery time. Do not confuse stock shown in a review catalogue with commercially available inventory. Confirm the order and terms before scheduling replenishment.

Review format and cost

The pack of two 400 m rolls totals 800 metres. This helps calculate quantities but does not establish how long it will last in your workshop. To compare prices, use the cost per 100 metres guide. For another format, ask the SIC Refinish team.
